An Interview With Fro

Posted by Maltos - December 9th, 2021

This Is An Interview With @Fro

Enjoy

Maltos - You signed up for Newgrounds as of 4/12/04, how did you find Newgrounds and what keeps you here?

Fro - My good friend @plsurucantmeshur showed me the site. When I joined newgrounds there wasn't another video hosting site like youtube that existed out there. There was virtually no other place to watch stuff that I knw about at the time. My friend showed me some Resident Evil movies such as the following:

Back in the day with dial up, it took the entire night to watch or play 2-3 things so I found myself rewatching things that I enjoyed. A bunch of Resident Evil, virtually all of the Knox claymations, etc... We'd get on to find funny animations and share them with each other.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Maltos - Physical fitness is important to you, what draws you to attain such great strength?

Fro - I honestly don't have much going for me. I don't really like socializing, trying new things, etc... One thing I was always good at was picking things up! I know it sounds silly, but exerting myself gives me the only "rest time" throughout the day. The rest of the day is filled with anxiety about work, anxiety about relationships, worrying about money, worrying in general.

When I'm lifting or running, nothing else exists. My mind is completely clear. There's just me, there's some weight, and nothing else exists for awhile. It's my tranquility in a life full of anxiety, depression, and worry.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Maltos - You've competed in 3 strongman competitions, Deadlifted 600 pounds a car and all while you yourself being under 200 pounds! What inspires you to keep pushing?

Fro - I just want to pick up heavy things. Seriously, the feeling of breaking your own personal record and lifting a bit more than last time is very satisfying. There's very few things that one can control in the world and this is one of those things. See a lot of my answer above as well.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Maltos - Other than your physical endeavors who are you when you're away from NG?

Fro - Well, I don't do much! I'm a dad, a partner, a coach, work a part time job and a full time job. As for what I do to enjoy myself outside of lifting, I don't really! It's the thing that I enjoy. Other than that my life revolves around trying to be a decent farther and partner.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Maltos - You're a MOD on the forums, how did you become a MOD and do you enjoy it?

Fro - SevenSeize and I were talking and I think I asked her if she thought I could be a mod. She brought it up to Tom and he thought I should be one. The only funny thing about that is I tried so hard to become a mod for a long time. I took an extended break, came back, and within the year I was a moderator. It wasn't something I was trying for, I had just changed from the younger me.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Maltos - What do you love most about NG

Fro - Generic "community" answer. Seriously though, watching people become successful because of the community. I wouldn't have had the inspiration to pay for the contests that I attended this last year if the newgrounds community didn't raise virtually every dollar for me.

Look around and you'll see people teaming together to make success stories!

-------------------------------------------------------------

Maltos - From your perspective who is the most improved BBS user? or your favorite BBS uers

Fro - To be honest, I don't really think about who's been most improved. I don't really have a lot of users that I would consider my favorite. I do like talking with kidray76. Phobotech was my go to guy to talk to back in the day as well. A lot of the users that I communicate with on a regular bases don't really use the BBS.

------------------------------------------------------

Maltos - The pandemic has effected everyone differently, in what way has it effected you?

Fro - It's been difficult and it's been ok. Job security was never an issue with our family and I kept to myself so much that lock downs had very little effect on me.

There was also a lot of bad that I don't want to think about right now, but I have blogged about before so lucky for you guys I can answer this questions without thinking about it!

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Maltos - What person or event in your life has had the greatest impact on you?

Fro - I remember messing up in a track relay race that ended up taking us out of 1st place down to like 5th at a big state championship meet. I remember feeling absolutely terrible and my track coach could tell I was ready to breakdown at any moment.

This man held me and cried with me right there in front of everyone. It was the first time in my life that I experienced the following things: A man was allowed to cry without getting punished for it. A man was allowed to be emotionally caring for another individual. I had never experienced that before and it really changed my life.

-------------------------------------------------

Maltos - If you could say anything to @Tomfulp what would it be?

Fro - Tom is pretty responsive lol. He's always responded to me and at least leaves me likes on social media platforms/posts that I make. So, if I could say anything to Tom I would have already said it! But here it goes, Hey Tom, if I'm ever in town hope you can show me the newgrounds operations. Thanks for all of the support via donations and everything else you've done for me!

Maltos - Who would you like to see interviewed next?

Fro - @kidray76

Fro's a real one. Great read, despite them occasional typos. It's apparent he leads a busy life and doesn't prioritize non-essentials, like proofreading the occasional interview. :P

That track relay race moment really sounds like a special moment. I'm not much into watching sports, but I do appreciate how they seem to really bring out the humanity in people. Full range of emotion. Seems like the only place you get it.

Hope things keep going as awesome as they have so far with the weightlifting and what-not and looking forward to that next interview!
